Financial Literacy Classes

YOUTH FINANCIAL LITERACY

            SPONSORED BY CHISHOLM HORIZONS

         PRESENTED BY THE UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA EXTENSION

Chisholm Horizons, together with The University of Minnesota Extension, is offering FREE YOUTH FINANCIAL LITERACY training. The Financial Literacy education is available in a “train the trainer” format.

The training will consist of: Elementary Age Youth – Use children’s literature to teach financial literacy to pre-K and elementary age students and their parents. The train the trainer trainings are for pre-K and elementary teachers, Head Start and ECFE staff, children’s librarians, etc. working with children and parents.

Middle School Age Youth – Provide financial literacy learning opportunities for youth on a variety of topics in both formal and non- formal educational settings. Train the trainer trainings for middle school teachers or community youth serving agencies, including 4-H, Boy & Girls Scouts, Boys & Girls Clubs, after school programs, religious organizations, etc.

 

Elementary Age Youth training: Monday, March 21st
Middle School Age Youth training: Tuesday, March 22nd

Time: (both nights)    4:30pm to 8:00 pm

Where: (both nights)    Range Center, Inc.

Free food-n-beverage will be provided. Attend one or both nights. CEU credits available:    .3 CEU per night or .6 CEU for both nights for $10/person (Payable at the door) A “certificate of attendance” will be provided.

Horizons is a community leadership program aimed at reducing poverty in small rural and reservation communities (population less than 5,000) faced with economic decline and demographic change. Chisholm Horizons, which began in October 2006, is a group of local citizens formed through The University of Minnesota Extension/ Minnesota Horizons with the startup funded by the Northwest Area Foundation. Two of Chisholm Horizons aims are to help overcome
financial barriers and to promote youth activities.
